Impossible To Lose Fat With These Foods

If your goal is to lose fat, there are certain foods that are going to make the fat loss process a lot more difficult. Not only because they are fattening and/or highly calorific, but because they put the brakes on your metabolism. I am not saying you cannot eat the following foods at all, but losing fat becomes impossible if you keep consuming them in high quantities. Here are 3 foods that make it next to impossible to lose fat;

1/ Bread

Bread, especially white bread, has a very low nutrient value and and a very high calorie value. It is also  a typical ‘starchy carb,’ so is particularly dangerous if your are not exercising and using up the carbs during the day.

The bottom line is that your body doesn’t need this sort of food. You can get more than enough carbs from fruits, vegetables, beans, etc. Which are far lower in calories and far more nutritious.

2/ Biscuits

Take a minute to read the caloirific value on the side of your favourite brand of biscuits and it will shock you. You wouldn’t believe how many calories they manage to cram into such a small biscuit. And because of the horribly addictive substances that go into biscuits you can’t stop eating them.

Here’s the scenario – you feel hungry, so eat a biscuit. It makes you even more hungry so you keep going. Now you either keep eating them and adding to your sky-high calorie intake, or you stop and feel hungrier than when you started. That’s a lose-lose situation if ever I saw one!

3/ Alcohol

Okay, I know this isn’t ‘a food’ but that is sort of the point really. When you eat something, you body uses it as fuel and you feel fuller. The degree to which your body uses the fuel depends on what you eat, but you will feel fuller nonetheless.

With alcohol you are taking in totally empty calories that your body has no use for. This means whatever calories you take with alcohol are going to be added on top of your daily total from food. And given most people tend to get even more hungry when they drink alcohol you could be adding 1000 calories to your daily total before you know it.

Today’s Takeaway – I’m sure you were already aware that the above foods are not good for you. But it’s not just the calorie levels you should be worrying about.  Increasing and stimulating your metabolism is the easiest and best way to lose weight. If you eat the three junk foods above you stop your body’s metabolism dead in its tracks. The result? You don’t lose any weight eve though you may be ating well the rest of the time.

Hi Phil. Not never but just make bread a treat rather than an everyday thing. If you add more lean protein and vegetables and make it into a salad it will be a lot healthier. Plus try making your own salad dressing.
You won’t miss the bread once you get used to it.
